Central market of Tunis

Located at the crossroads of Charles-De Gaulle, Germany and Spain streets, in the modern city, at the gates of the medina, and at a 5 minutes walk from the hotel, the central market of Tunis is one of the most important commercial places of the city centre.  Built in 1891. It is composed of four buildings mixing Art Deco and Arab styles.

The central market (“Fondouk el Ghalla”) is full of fruits and vegetables, meat and fish, spices and dried fruits. Here, and in the surrounding streets, great moments of local life take place that will offer the attentive traveler a moment of authenticity. Don’t miss the fish market!
